Invoice AI is about to release version 3.0. It is not a new coat of paint on the app you already have: the mobile app has been rewritten from zero, screen by screen, on a different technical foundation. This article explains what changes, what does not, and what it means for a business that invoices from a phone.
What exactly is version 3.0?
Version 3.0 is a full rewrite of the Invoice AI mobile app. The version published on Google Play today was built on one technology stack; 3.0 is built on another, from an empty folder. Everything you see — the invoice list, the quote flow, the PDF settings, the reports — was written again rather than adapted.
Rewrites are expensive and most companies avoid them. The reason to do one is that the old foundation stops letting you add things at a reasonable cost. Once that happens, every new feature takes longer than the last, and the app slowly stops improving. Starting over resets that.
Will I lose my invoices when I update?
No. Version 3.0 ships as an update to the app you already have, not as a separate app. It keeps the same package identity, so the private folder on your phone survives the install and your data stays where it is. You update from the store like any other version.
What is already inside
The rewrite is not a smaller app. These are the parts that are finished and working:
- Invoices — six tabs by state, a period selector and a search box, so a long list stays usable
- Quotes — seven tabs and six states, with duplicate, reject, and convert-to-invoice
- New customers and products from inside the picker — you do not leave the invoice you are writing to create the customer you just met
- Full PDF configuration — the document that reaches your customer carries your company header, not the app's brand
- Payments — a catalogue of payment methods, and every payment records which one was used
- Payment links — send a link for the outstanding balance, with the options you chose remembered per customer
- Reports — one sheet per view, with a chart and export to PDF and CSV
- Contact import — pull name, company, phone, email and address from your phone's contacts when creating a customer, on Android and iOS
- Backups and sync — restore on sign-in, upload on demand, and a choice of which backup to restore
- Demo data — the first time you open it with an empty database, the app offers to load a worked example so you are not staring at a blank screen
Three real languages, not a translated menu
Invoice AI 3.0 ships in Spanish, English and Brazilian Portuguese, from a single catalogue of 459 text entries. That number matters because it is the difference between an app that translated its menus and one where every message, error and empty state exists in all three languages. There is no Spanish left hard-coded anywhere in the app.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. The app keeps its own local database on the device, so you can create a customer, write an invoice and generate its PDF with no signal at all. Sync and cloud backup are separate features that run when a connection is available, not a requirement for invoicing.
The manual moved inside the app
Documentation that lives on a website is documentation nobody opens. Version 3.0 carries a user manual of 35 topics, in all three languages, in a side drawer with its own search box. You read it without leaving the screen you were stuck on.
Light and dark
Theme is a setting with three options — System, Light, Dark — rather than something the app decides for you. If you invoice in a warehouse at seven in the morning and in a customer's office at eight at night, this is less trivial than it sounds.
The free plan
Invoice AI has a free plan with usage caps. Two things are worth stating plainly, because vagueness here is how software loses trust:
First, the caps are set by our admin panel, not baked into the app, so they can be adjusted without shipping a new version. Second, version 3.0 ships with those caps switched off. The "Your plan" card in Settings shows your usage either way, and this website announces the same numbers the app enforces. If that ever changes, it changes in both places at once.
When does 3.0 arrive?
The build is finished and signed. What it is waiting on is a signing-key reset request with Google Play, which is a queue we do not control. That is why this article gives you no release date: we would rather tell you it is close and be right than name a Tuesday and be wrong.
What we are not claiming
A rewrite is a risk, and it would be dishonest to present it as pure upside. A new codebase has new bugs, and the ones that survive are the ones nobody thought to look for. The published app has years of real use behind it; 3.0 has a test suite and a checklist. That is why it ships as an update you can roll back from, why backups exist, and why the first weeks after release matter more than the launch day.
If you use Invoice AI today, the practical advice is short: make sure cloud backup is on before you update. It takes a minute and it is the difference between a bad afternoon and a non-event.
In one paragraph
Invoice AI 3.0 is the same app, rebuilt: same identity, same data, same package on the store, new everything else. It invoices offline, speaks three languages properly, turns quotes into invoices, records how each payment came in, exports reports to PDF and CSV, and carries its own manual. It is finished and waiting on a store queue, so it arrives when it arrives — and when it does, it arrives as an update, not a migration.
